Fins Up

Never chase the rust monster again.

After 15 years of weathering this really needed some work.

CJ7

The body didn't really look too bad from a distance.

CJ7

This was just the beginning. Still not too bad looking.

CJ7

Here more of the problem can be seen. The stickers were holding the body together.

CJ7

This was a definate problem. The fender would move in and out about 3".

CJ7

The body was finally off. The new body was in the cardboard box. I did allot of research and bought the body from 4 Wheel Drive Hardware. They are great to deal with and I would reccomend their body if anyone is looking for a glass tub.

CJ7

The frame was cleaned up and repainted. I replaced all bushings and suspension parts.

CJ7

The body comes without any holes. Drilling and cutting all of the holes is the toughest part of the project.

CJ7

Here most of the holes have been cut.

CJ7

I painted the under side of the tub and fenders. The reddish finish would look funny and the paint doesn't hold dirt and mud.

CJ7

This is when the anticipation was really starting to get going.

CJ7

It was starting to look like a Jeep again.

CJ7

The grille is the only thing still made of steel in the body.

CJ7

Almost ready to motor on.

CJ7

Better than new.
